Update on 4th of July Activities
As most of you know, the 4th of July in Kingston has always been a very special holiday with KCYC doing more than its share to help the town celebrate. Although July 4th is only five weeks away, there is still considerable uncertainty as to what events we will be able to hold. The 4th of July Celebration Committee, of which KCYC is an ad hoc member, is optimistic that we will be able to host some events this year and we are actively evaluating how we can safely put on these events while adhering to the State’s reopening guidelines. Governor Inslee has announced that he is working on a plan to reopen the State by June 30th. The challenge is that the guidelines for reopening have not been shared with us yet so we are uncertain as to how they will impact our ability to host outdoor events where we are likely to have larger crowds of people.
We are working closely with State, County and local authorities to prepare a plan for the 4th of July, but at this time we can only be reasonably certain that we will be able to hold the KCYC Pancake Breakfast. The parade, Free Hots Dogs for Kids, the concerts, the beer tent and the fireworks are all undecided. We will keep everyone posted as we receive additional information.
