Thank you all for supporting my term as your Commodore. It has been a good year, with moderate growth and accomplishments. You made that possible.
Without any doubt this Board has worked hard to implement the tasks set out before them, and I said when I started that I would only be as good as the people who surrounded me, and that is true, so thank you Board Members for being there and doing the work.
The Facilities Design Document, which spells out what improvements should be prioritized and made to our space was updated, and the tasks that were implemented resulted in an aesthetically pleasing flooring installation, among many other things that have improved our space. Thank you Chuck Turner for your lead on all these improvements.
Ed Fernandez, made our cruises some of the most memorable, and Shelley Gantz implemented her duties as Rear Commodore at the bar with dedication and perseverance. John Gantz brought his usual humor to the financial side of things, and Karen never failed to make sure our minutes were accurate and new applications were processed. Diane and Jim both served as Trustees, with Diane concentrating on membership and Jim working on the By-laws. Art Hammon, our immediate Past Commodore , was there to advise and assist, not only me, but all. A big Thank You to all of you!
And now we turn the page and offer our support and congratulations to the new Board who will continue the tradition of making this the Best Little Yacht Club in Washington State.
I certainly can not end this, my last article, without thanking not only those mentioned above, but those who served as Chairmen and volunteers. Without your enthusiastic support and willingness to serve all the functions and events would not have happened. Too many to list, but thank you, thank you, Simona Robin, Julie, Robin, Rob, Kirsten, Cheryl, Joseph, Mike Brooks, Steve Young,Gloria, Mark, to name a few, and all the rest who served as Cruise Captains, Bar Workers, Kitchen Helpers on clean up and serving, and everyone who attended and supported all of these members. You know who you are.
I challenge all of you to stay involved and stay active and volunteer. It is a great feeling and makes the club work for all. A hui Hou and see you at the Commodore’s Ball.
